Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
Power at Pentecost. Believers filled with the Holy Spirit and everyone knew they had been with Jesus!
The Power came from God. The Power still comes from The Lord.
The Power of God is no good if you have no desire to have it.
The Power of your Testimony will move and change others leading them to Christ.
The Power of Commitment. Wholly following Jesus will cost you the world, Christ is far better anyway.
On the last Sunday in January 2022, the beginning of a new year... isn't it interesting that The Lord has me to preach to you and all the world today about the power of making a commitment to God and to one another.
Most New Years vows and resolutions are forgotten and ended by the end of January. Now that you've got those unimportant, unproductive, unreliable, unnecessary, and unuseful commitments past, why not make a REAL commitment...
Proverbs 16:3 Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.
Whatever you do committ yourself to the Lord. All your works, all your actions and God will see to it that your plans will be established Amen! That's a real promise from God that will change your whole outlook on life right now!
Paul begged the church in Romans chapter 12,
1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
I urge you brothers and sisters, church that you dedicate, present, offer all of yourselves, a living, pure and holy sacrifice to God... make a real commitment to God, forsaking the ways of this world and be ye transformed! Amen!
The freedom, the joy, the happiness, the blessings, the praise, the love, the wisdom and perfect understanding that comes to the child of God who has committed their ways to Him, the lover of mankind who gave himself for us.
God made a commitment to you when he gave his only begotten Son for you. God fulfilled the commitment to you when Jesus died for your sins at Calvary. God makes commitments to you everyday.
God says in the book of Isaiah chapter 41,
10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
He goes onto say...
13 For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.
It may be that our problems are all the other commitments we have made that seperate us, pull us away from our blessed Lord... We are much like this "certain man" Luke spoke of,
Luke 9:57 And it came to pass, that, as they went in the way, a certain man said unto him, Lord, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest.
Or this man in mourning...
59 And he said unto another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.
Or this man the missing...
61 And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house.
I am so glad The Lord promises can be trusted aren't you...? Can God rely on me? Can God rely, count on you? Can The Lord depend on you and trust you? My Spirit is truly ready Bro. Brian but my flesh is weak... Yes mine is too, but I have found that when I purpose in mine heart as the young man Daniel did in Babylon not to defile himself/myself but to stay with God and His people, the transformation of my sinful nature is in The Lord Jesus' wonderful hands.
More to come soon... The Power of a Committed Christian
62 And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.
I hope to see you in The Lord's house.
In Jesus name bless us with power from on high. Amen
